Here we GROW again!
November is here again, and with that comes the challenge of raising awareness as well as raising funds in the fight against cancer affecting men in our community. This is my second year participating in the Grow On campaign with my cousin Terrance Thomas. This year I have decided to switch it up a bit, along with growing out a studly stache I will be doing "No SUGAR November". For the month of November I will be cutting processed sugars and carbs from my diet. I will also do a minimum of 5kms walking per day for a monthly total of 150kms.
This is a very personal cause for myself and Terrance as many of our family members have been effected by prostate cancer. My father Wayne Sr. is a proud prostate cancer survivor, and my personal inspiration to do this campaign again. I am thankful for the extra time we have been given with my Dad, I am grateful help raise money that might give other families that special gift too.
WHAT DOES GROW ON SUPPORT?
Growing out your ‘stache or beard will cause others to take notice and ask “why?”, sparking a conversation about men’s health.
Local men’s health cancer research projects through our annual Seeds4Hope grant awards program which could include, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
The purchase of tools used in the treatment of cancer affecting men such as bladder scanner, vital machine monitors, IV poles, brachytherapy equipment and an immobilization system used for radiation treatment.
